Worship at GRC

Our Worship

“O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth,” (Psalm 96:9).

Our order of worship is set in the context of God’s gracious covenant to us. The order of worship in a church service on the Lord’s Day, is an integral part of the acceptability of worship as God requires. Such a biblical stance on the worship of Jesus Christ demonstrated, for God’s people, that God alone determines the manner in which sinners approach him. In approaching God, the Christian Church has always desired to set down an order of worship that they could biblically validate, and practically utilize for the good of the congregation as “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people,” (1 Peter 2:9).

The Order of Worship

Our order of worship has remained essentially the same as it was throughout the history of the Christian Church during its inception, even up and through the time of the Protestant Reformation. We follow the covenant renewal service of word and sacrament. It is best defined by the 1647 Westminster Directory for Public Worship as outlined below.
